Posted by DuoDreamr [Sun Jul 31st 16:31:33 EST 2005]
Loopy has updated snesDS, his SNES emulator for the NDS.

Busy with another project, updates will be slow for a few weeks.

(30/7/2005) More sound changes, debug stuff, throttle option. (probably no changes in compatibility... I'll be working on that next)

Head on over to his website and download it for a look. As always, you can get in on the discussion in our Forums.

AgentQ has released his first working version of the ScummVM DS port.

To quote the thread: 'Select' switches between scaled and unscaled. D-pad to scroll around. Play the game using the pen.

I should have a version that can play any game you have the data files for by next week or so.

You can check it out in the GBADev DS Forums HERE. There is a Flash version and a Wireless Multiboot version available.

Tokyo, July 21, 2005 – Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) announced today that it had reached an agreement in principle to acquire SN Systems Limited (SN Systems), a leading supplier of programming tools for game developers established in 1989 and based in Bristol, UK. With this acquisition, SCEI aims to further enhance the development environment and tools that the company provides to the creative community for developing computer entertainment content for PLAYSTATION®3.

Famed for its renowned ProDG tool, SN Systems has significant assets in both technology and experience supporting PlayStation games development, accumulated over its 10-year relationship with SCEI. A significant number of the PlayStation 2 games developers have chosen to use SN Systems’ software development tools, including an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) consisting of compilers, linkers and debuggers. “It’s a great pleasure to have SN Systems on board PlayStation,” said Masa Chatani, corporate executive and CTO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. “For more than 10 years, they have pioneered the development of great tools for PlayStation content creation. By combining our experience and skills together, PlayStation will have even more sophisticated tools to deliver to content creators around the world.”

DS WiFi Bounty Still Up For Grabs! (...)
Posted by DuoDreamr [Wed Jul 27th 14:08:46 EST 2005]
StoneCypher's huge WiFi Bounty has nearly reached $1500! No one has clamed any of the prize milestones yet, so keep your eyes open!

Milestone One is almost complete. There are three people in grasping range, though none of them quite have it, yet. Once milestone one is in place, milestones two and three are in reach of the general programming populace. Gentlemen, if you haven't yet started your engines, now's the time. Pushing lwIP or its equivalent onto embedded could win you almost $800, and if this page gets onto news services, quite possibly a much larger amount.

Majesco named in Class-Action Lawsuit & Bankruptcy? (...)
Posted by DuoDreamr [Sat Jul 23rd 17:35:45 EST 2005]
It appears that Majesco games is in some seriously deep waters lately. Majesco, known for its daring by publishing titles that other publishers wont touch, was sued in a class-action lawsuit by its stockholders for violations of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.

Just today, it has been reported by CGN that Majesco has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. Read more here.

What does this mean for homebrew? Majesco was known for publishing new and unknown titles, in stark contrast to the high-profile franchise machines that most other publishing houses are. They published the Iridion games for GBA, and most recently, the shooter Nanostray for the NDS. We can only hope that other publishers will begin to take more chances with non-franchise games.

UPDATE 07/24/2005
It appears that CGN has retracted their statement about Majesco filing for bankruptcy protection. Read more here. Thanks to Andy for the heads-up.
